The clean up of devastated Sandair continued in earnest today with over twenty helpers tending to the stricken ground and pavilion. Road access to the ground has been restored with Gote Road open from Papcastle Roundabout, which eases journeys to-and-from Sandair.
Alterations from the pictures below are that the walls / large stones have been removed from the ground. However, the major concerns still remain and any cricket on Sandair in 2010 is in serious jeopardy. Turf Specialists arrive in town tomorrow to deliver their verdict on the square, but early suggestions point to it needing to be totally re-laid, which could never be completed by April. The square is totally covered in rocks, stones and silt.
The outfield, especially on the pavilion side of the ground, is badly damaged by heavy deposits of silt. An area covering 200 square metres is still being tended to, which is both time consuming and hard work.
In the pavilion, the floorboards have been lifted and surfaces are slowly beginning to dry out.
The efforts of every single person who has given their time to the club are greatly appreciated by everyone and we hope that this continues throughout the clean-up.
Here are some pictures to illustrate the on-going process at Sandair.

Sandair has been devastated by the terrible flooding which hit Cockermouth last week. The pictures below speak a thousand words about the damage that has been left behind. This Saturday at 0830 sees the clean-up begin. There is no parking at the ground, so cars will have to be parked at top end of Gote Road. Please support your club in its hour of need.
